Rainy Randi

I've got weather to report here...ITS RAINING! I don't remember the last time I've been drenched trying to go piddle outside...
I haven't even been out for my morning walk yet...& its already afternoon! I'm trying to get my mom to play ball with me outside in the rain...Here I am telling her she won't get that wet, that look! Its starting to just sprinkle...
I gave her my very best puppy dog sad lonely eyes...but she is a wimp...A little rain never hurt anyone...
Now I'm ignoring her. If you don't make eye contact with them once they've done something you don't approve of, they'll learn to obey...
Anybody else want to play with my tennis balls in the rain? Anyone?

ps...as you may have noticed, my cute nose picture is no longer on the header under Randi the Lab/Newf....suddenly yesterday it just disappeared...my mom/secretary sent a note off to Blogger Help....anyone have any ideas why it suddenly would disappear?

7. My mom calls me Putzy Pants cuz I'm kinda a putz on walks sometimes & Randa-Panda...I guess it has to do with my black & white ensemble I wear everyday...

ITS RANDAY!!!

Happy Randay Everypup! I've had quite an adventure this past week & the picture above shows how I'm recovering....yep...napping in the sun. I came home on Friday night & my mom said that I was sooooooo skinny! I guess that's what happens when you run yourself ragged for a week straight at doggy day care.... I had a very nice time & met lots of new friends.....
My mom had a suprise for me when she opened up her suitcase! A HONKING MALLARD DUCK! Just like the ones on Lake Como in St. Paul! Luckily, she found a stuffed one, cuz I really don't think a live one would have made the trip & came out honking. I dropped Mr. Yellow Fever Monkey like a hot potato....So I honked & honked & honked the night away!
Here I am helping it fly...with a little help by shaking it up...now some of you might think this activity may lead to shaken stuffie syndrome, but I don't agree...
For instance, take Mr. Yellow Fever Monkey...he was sick already...we all knew his life was going to be a short one...he was actually ripped from limb to limb & his throat was slashed. I think the CSDC (Center for Stuffie Disease Control) would have done the same to keep his illness from spreading...
Plus, my mom promised me she would take some pics of a few goodies that were being made for Turkey Day...Mmmm...glazed carrots & PIG! I hope all of you have a very successful Turkey day & that lots of stuffed dropped from the table & into your awaiting mouths! On this Randay, I am thankful for a warm home, loving pawrents & soft, new stuffies. So many pups are still in shelters & awaiting their furever home...I should know, cuz when I was a wee pup, I was one of them. Please keep those pups & other animals without a home in your minds this upcoming holiday season.

New Recruit

Yep - a new recruit...you'd think my mom/secretary would learn her lesson by now...whenever I...ehhh...I mean, Winston, has discomboobulated any of my stuffies, I usually get a replacement by the next day...I'd like to think the system works...for stuffie replacement anyway... I'm not sure what I should name him...Mr. Yellow Fever? He looks kind of ill & I assume he's spent some time in some virus-infested jungle somewhere...I didn't recognize the postmark when we has delivered this morning...

Oh, by the way - I'm going to CAMP! My peoples are gonna be away for the holidays..I'm bummed, cuz my mom is going to to the land of Ike, Tasha & Eva & Suki Sumo! I'd love to come along...but I'm headed to a doggie day camp! I'll be playing non-stop at doggie day camp & then at night I get to sleep at the home of the camp sargent! No cages, no kennels & 24/7 supervision..plus, there will be lots of other doggies to play with....My brother Dublin & I stayed there last Christmas & it was a jolly good time...but I'm a bit nervous cuz I've never been away from home all by myself since Dublin went to Rainbow Bridge in March...so please send all your good vibes my way so I won't get homesick...I'm hoping the camp sargent lets me have blogging privilages if I'm good...so I can still visit all of you...

Cause of Death: Shaken Stuffie Syndrome

Its a tragedy whenever it happens, but it seems to happen at an unusually high rate at my house...Shaken Stuffie Syndrome...Say your farewells to Mr. Blue Elephant..He was a faithful friend...didn't mind the slobber & bites & RARE occasions I gave him a little shake...
But the lethal blow was dealt by my cousin Winston (that's my story if the detectives start snooping around) & he should be punished to the full extent of the Stuffie Law...
Here I am saying my final farewells...so sorry for the graphic content of stuffie guts...not for the young at heart...

I convinced Winston that the cops were after him & scared him into the Winston Protection Program...I thought he would best take the idenity of Doggie Don King... He's so gullible!

Ode to Pippadog

Here I am all very sad & worried...you see, my dear, darling Pippadog is a little bit upset with me...he dedicated some of his bloggy post from Saturday to me...dreaming about me since I am one of his (many, many, many) girlfriends...cuz I asked when he was gonna dream about me...good to his word...he has been dreaming of me for 4 whole days & I haven't left him any peemail...Girls..take note...not the way to treat a boyfriend! So I've been trying to figure out how I can let him know how sorry I am...& my heartfelt remorse would best be conveyed in the chorus lyrics from the song "Alone" from the 80's band Heart...

Sniffles & Snottles Still....

Well, I'm still playing nurse to my sick mom/secretary....the sniffles & snottles are still overtaking her snout... It ain't pretty... But I'm very keen on using paw sanitizer everytime I touch her & I keep spraying Lysol on her like its perfume...so I'm hoping her drippy nose isn't catchy...Here I am taking good sniff at the shiny & glittery balls....I've been reminded a billion times already that they are not toys...blah, blah, blah... its more like honk, honk, honk...cuz that's what my mom sounds like today...
My mom is a fan of medieval history...she likes the tales of Queen Elizabeth...its kinda blurry, but the thing standing up is a blown glass ornament of the very Queen Elizabeth...
Here's one of my personal favorites...a big black dog....I'll post later about the ornament that my mom bought my dad in memory of my brother Dublin...its quite a striking resemblance...& made everyone cry...
Well, just thought I let you all see my wet, shiny, pretty snout that DOES NOT have drippy snot or stuffy sniffles coming out of it... The holiday decorating is starting & I'm going to see that its carried through...maybe I'll take over the operations until my mom is back to normal...I'm gonna start stringing pieces of BACON & hanging them on the tree...now that would be a cause to celebrate!

ITS RANDAY!

Pssst...Happy Randay Everypup! I'm trying to be very quiet & discreet...cuz something just isn't right in my doghouse....Take a look at whats behind me! Holiday ornaments! Plus the big fake tree is going up later! All on Randay! & its not even Thanksgiving yet! Where's the turkey & gravy? The stuffing? My mom/secretary was busy munching on leftover Halloween candy while unwrapping all these funny shaped things...& I don't think they are toys cuz every time I try to sniff them, my mom shoos me away...thats not nice to do to Randi on Randay!

So far today I've been napping with my mom cuz she has those funny human sniffles & snottles that come out of her snout... Humans are pretty gross sometimes... On this Randay, I'm thankful for the warm house I live in, the lovely green grass I get to roach in & the lovely doggy beds & blankets that I get to nap on...I'm a pampered pooch!

Butt - A - Nut Squash & BACON!

Well, I survived the stink of the kitchen yesterday & didn't try any soup..too much other stuff mixed in...maybe next time...& I guess I'll post the recipe later since my dad is still alive this morning...Here I am with my trusty rabbit, Mr. Carrot...we were protesting the presence of any other orange vegtables cooking in the kitchen, but it didn't really work...
For all of you who asked if this thing really is as stinky as I claimed it was...I thought so...I didn't even want to be in the kitchen when my mom/secretary/half-ass chef was doing all the prep work...until this....
Behold the wonderous smells of BACON! I dedicate this picture to Sir Bacon (aka Sir Chance-Lot) Once my sniffer got a hold of this delicious scent, I was in a bacon trance! I didn't even know that there was bacon in the soup! So I sat at the feet of my mom like a good little girl should until I was offered a piece (a very small piece). Plus, I learned some great begging tips from Pippa yesterday which will come in very handy during the holidays....I was able to eat more bacon with my dinner last night...mmm...carrots & bacon....I love it!

The Stink is Coming From the Kitchen...

I don't know if any of you have been keeping up to date on all the trouble that Asta & her friends have gotten themselves into..but it made my mom/secretary give me a very stern warning that I'll be allowed to go on roadtrips with my DWB friends when pigs fly....so I'm not sure when pigs actually fly..maybe during the nice spring months...but their road trip looks like a big blast & I can't wait to go on one...Anyway..my mom was inspired by Asta's mom in a recent post about making soup....so here is her feable attempt at being a chef today...(I'm staying in the living room cuz the kitchen really stinks...)
Stuff to make the But-a-nut Squash Soup...receipe from Williams Sonoma...if it turns out OK & doesn't poison my dad, I'll post it for all you to try...if you dare...
Geez....those things sure are stinky....I don't think she is following the directions very well...I wouldn't eat that...
This is how I'll be spending the rest of my afternoon...I hope she doesn't alter my dinner rations...that orange stuff in the oven looked nasty...the only orange things I want to eat are baby carrots...

Skinnie-Minnie

Guess who had to step on the scale today at the vet? My mom was sure I had gained some weight since I haven't been getting my 2 big walks a day for a while now....that blame rests squarely on the shoulders of my peoples since they've been gone a lot this last month... Drum roll please! I now weigh 94 pounds! I lost 6 pounds since my last weigh-in at the beginning of September! I have to have another video conference with the nutrition head honchos up at UC Davis in Northern California next month...then they will talk "maintence"...whatever that means..
Here is one of their nutrition posters & it features ME!..Ok...I'm not too thrilled by the description of "Obesity Management" next to my picture...but I guess I'm no longer obese so the joke is on them! And a picture of the yummy food I get to eat 3 times a day is in the bottom left corner! That's actually my dish & my food! How cool is that!

I'm hoping that as a reward for losing a total of 24 pounds so far, that I get to sneak inside this gelato parlor (photo taken in Amalfi from my peoples trip to Italy) and lick every single flavor till there is nothing left! (Skip the chocolate ones, of course...) I think thats only fair....
And then after that, sample every one of these yummy pizzas (another Italy pic from my peoples)...Dieting is hard work & I think its only right that I should reward myself for a job well done!

ITS RANDAY!

Happy Randay Everypup! Good golly - I have so much to be thankful for today....first off, I'd like to thank EVERYPUP who voted for MARVIN since he so lovingly deserves to be the Awesome Blog Winner for November~! I, too, love Marvin's blog & he is an honorable chap...so hats off to my look-a-like Scottish friend! ....I was the runner up so I was able to be the Featured Blog of the Month - an honor I will always cherish! So thank you so very much! I've only been blogging since August 1, 2007 - so I am quite humbled....

My peoples have been busy - hence the lack of new posts this week. My "IN BOX" on my mom/secretary's desk is overflowing & I'm hoping she will not slack off this week. I told her since I'm the featured blog for November, she needs to hold her job to a higher standard...or she'll be sacked...

Oh, Winston is here for the weekend....for all of you who don't know who Winston is (aka Pip-Squeek), he is my dad's brother's dog....so I guess you could say my cousin - he lives nearby... We think he is some kind of Whippit/Terrier/Border Collie mix..but he is 100% pest... I tolerate him & he does make a fine playmate when I want to play tug of war... This morning we were slaying some snakes in the living room & look at what happened....

The snake wrapped himself around Winston & I was trying to bite its blue head off & save Winston, even though I would have laughed a bit if that little Pip-Squeek would have been squeezed in two by the snake...
Here he is again..he just doesn't learn....a blue cobra & purple boa constricter & he's trying to bite the green snake too! What a show off....
Don't even think it! MY PAWS ARE WAY CUTER THAN HIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here I am trying to tell Winston not to be a big wussy & just make friends with the snakes...
After I saved Pip-Squeek from the snakes, I just wanted some peace & quiet...I camouflaged myself with my toys so Winston wouldn't find me...as you can see in the upper left hand corner, Mr. Snufalafagus (from Sesame Street) is becoming a fast favorite of mine...

On this Randay, I am thankful for all the new friends I'm getting the chance to meet from being the November Featured Blog of the Month!
