The Nose Knows When an Earthquake is a Comin'...

Hi everyone...Randi's mom/secretary here...Just thought you'd all like to know that besides the amazing talent of Randi being a contortionist (flipping her front flippers in weird directions...) she can also detect earthquakes...around 11:42 am or so today, a 5.4 earthquake decided to shake the LA area...about a minute & a half prior to that, Randi had just finished eating lunch...I was sitting on the couch when she just bolted into the living room & velcroed herself to me & the couch...I hugged her & asked what was wrong & she just looked at me with those big brown eyes...Thinking that maybe she needed to do some business outdoors, I took her outside to where her dad & Winston were & she just stood at the door...I went & sat back down on the couch & then felt the swaying - like being on a boat - I'm going to send Randi's resume to the U.S. Geological Survey & see if they need any help...she can dig holes too...

Wow, you're good Randi! I don't think I can detect anything at all except who is walking outside pass our main gate. Hehehe! Be safe.

Well, obviously Wincompoop doesn't share your keen abilities if he was all goofing off while the earthquake approached.

Maybe as a reward you can skip your stinky bath today.

We're glad you are OK! I can predict whether or not we're going to get snow; you and I should get together!

Randi is a hero to give a warning about the earthquake!

PAW!! You were lucky Randi, you were near your pack to warn them. Mom and Dad were gone, and we were in our safe place. We let out a couple barks, but no one heard. Mom works real close to the place the shooking came from. I heard her tell Dad that she ran outside to be safe. I wasnt too sure about all that shakin though. Dont like it at all! PAW- Max the dude!

Randi - you are SuperDog for sure!

Randi! That is sooo cool. I did the same too when a quake hit here a few yrs ago! I flew across the room and went under a bed....my mom was a tad puzzled and then we heard the BANG and it shook a bit. SCAWWYYYY! The BANG was right near us...I really felt it before she did! YAY!

I'm glad you're all OK!

Hi, Randi! We don't think we've visited you in a while--but we think you're totally cool. Especially now, wow, we never knew an earthquake detection dog before. Don't you think that designation should free you from all those baths???

Stay safe.

Cool! Randay, you have so many talents and you probably saved your mom's life and for that she should take you off your diet.

Glad to hear that you're all ok and maybe next time you do that your mom could start mixing a martini so it will be thoroughly shaken at the end of the quake.

ps. Please don't encourage Oscar. OCCASIONAL. Not OFTEN!

wow, Randi, that's totally believable. we know that dogs sense things that mere humans cannot understand. good job on sniffing out the earthquake. was it scary? yeah, we think so.

We bark at thunder, I can't imagine what we'd do in an earthquake. We are ok in elevators, though.
